DELPOYMENT OF NSS VOLUNTEERS FOR ELECTION DAY
On 13th Mar 2026, Sri G Sampathkumar, Lecturer / Physics and NSS Program Officer attended a meeting at Coimbatore Collectorate regarding the deployment of interested NSS volunteers in an election day to assist persons with disabilities, senior citizens and sick voters.
BAN ON SINGLE USE OF PLASTIC ITEMS
A short film “Ban on Single Use Plastic Items” issued by Tamilnadu Pollution Control Board was screened on 22nd Sep 2025 for all first year students.
ANTI-DRUG AWARENESS
Commemorating Drug Free Tamilnadu, our College NSS and Anti-drug club jointly conducted an Anti-Drugs Awareness Programme on 09th Aug 2025. Sri N. Siva, Psychologist, Government District Headquarters Hospital, Pollachi, delivered a special lecture about “Ill-effects of drugs and importance of leading a healthy lifestyle”.
YOUTH AWAKENING DAY
A special lecture on ‘Dr A P J Abdul Kalam’s life and proponed ideas’ was arranged on 14th Oct 2023. Sri K Daththathreyan, Teacher, T A T Kalanilayam Middle School delivered the special lecture. All the first year students attended the programme. Tree plantation programme also organised and our NSS volunteers planted the trees.
Swachhata Hi Seva – A Swachh Bharat Mission
Our college NSS Volunteers participated in Swachhata Hi Seva – A Swachh Bharat Mission Initiative and carried out cleaning activity at Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya Post Office and SBI Campus on 01st Oct 2023.

Programme on National Nutrition Week – 2022 was conducted by Anganwadi workers and ICD officials along with our NSS volunteers in our institution on 14th Sep 2022.

NSS (National Service Scheme)
NSS During the academic year 1983-84 the National Service Scheme (NSS) was started in our Polytechnic. It render
s various service activities in rural areas of Coimbatore by laying roads, cleaning and maintaining the environment pollution free with sanitation. Now our unit has 100 students as volunteers. Programme Officers of other institutions are invited at regular intervals to give guest lectures. The objectives of the NSS are to create social service attitudes among students, to improve the personality by doing social service and to conduct special camping under a theme. The training is included in the curriculum for the first year as a co-curricular subject.
Swami Vivekananda’s Birthday was celebrated as National Youth Day in our polytechnic college on 12th Jan 2017 as a part of our Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.
136 participants from various polytechnic colleges along with 4 staff members took part and gained knowledge about Swamiji through talks & film show. Swami Tatprabhanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, FAR &Vidyalaya High School (Gurukulam) delivered the “National Youth Day” Address. Dr.K.Kandappan, Dean, Student Support Services,Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts & Science delivered the Special Address.
